Sports Massage

Firm, skilled, targeted — for anyone who puts their body to work. Whether you're training for competition or recovering from a desk-bound week.

Sports massage treatment

What is sports massage?

Sports massage uses firm pressure, deep tissue techniques and targeted work on specific muscle groups to relieve tension, improve recovery and keep your body performing at its best. It's one of the most effective tools for maintaining an active body — and despite the name, it isn't just for athletes.

Every session is tailored to where you are in your training cycle or daily life. A pre-event treatment primes your muscles for performance. A post-event session flushes waste products and speeds recovery. And a maintenance appointment keeps you moving well between training — or helps undo the damage of long hours at a desk.

Francesca combines deep tissue work with soft tissue release, neuromuscular technique and, where appropriate, assisted stretching. The treatment is always led by what your body needs — not a fixed routine.

This treatment could help if…

Sports massage is for anyone who puts their body to work — not only elite athletes.

You train regularly or competitively

You're recovering from an event

You have a recurring soft tissue injury

Specific muscles that won't release

Need to prime your body before competition

Want to improve range of motion

Pre-Event Sports Massage

Primed, loose and ready to perform.

A shorter, stimulating treatment designed to warm up the muscles and increase circulation ahead of competition or intense exercise. The pace is quicker and lighter than a maintenance session, focusing on the muscle groups you'll be using most. Best booked 24–48 hours before your event.

Good for: race preparation, competition day, intense training sessions, getting muscles warm and responsive

Post-event recovery massage

Post-Event Sports Massage

Recover faster. Hurt less tomorrow.

Helps flush lactic acid and metabolic waste from tired muscles, reduce post-exercise soreness (DOMS) and speed up your recovery. The pace is slower and more restorative than a pre-event treatment — the aim is to calm the muscles down, not fire them up. Best booked 24–72 hours after your event.

Good for: post-race recovery, reducing DOMS, restoring range of motion, getting back to training sooner

Maintenance Sports Massage

The regular service your body needs to keep performing.

Regular treatment to address ongoing tension, prevent injury and keep your body moving well between training sessions. This is the most comprehensive option — Francesca works through the whole body, identifying areas of tightness or imbalance before they become problems. Many clients book these fortnightly or monthly as part of their training plan.

Good for: injury prevention, ongoing muscle management, training support, desk workers with chronic tension

Injury Rehabilitation Massage

Back to your best — safely and smartly.

Targeted work to support recovery from soft tissue injury, including muscle strains, ligament sprains and overuse injuries. Francesca uses a combination of deep tissue work, friction techniques and assisted stretching to break down scar tissue, restore function and ease pain. Always combined with appropriate advice on recovery, rehabilitation exercises and return-to-activity timelines.

Good for: muscle strains and tears, ligament sprains, overuse injuries, post-surgical soft tissue recovery

What to expect

1

Assessment

Francesca will discuss your training, any injuries and what you want from the session. For rehab clients, she may also perform basic range-of-motion or postural assessment.

2

During your treatment

Sports massage is firmer than a relaxation treatment. Some discomfort in tight areas is normal — but it should always be a 'good' discomfort. Francesca checks in with you throughout and adjusts pressure accordingly.

3

Afterwards

Drink plenty of water. You may feel some soreness for 24–48 hours, similar to post-exercise stiffness — this is your body responding to the deep tissue work. Francesca will give you any specific aftercare advice, including stretches or exercises if appropriate.
